The Winter Wonderland Holiday Lights display has been a favorite for visitors for years, and many families have enjoyed the beautiful lights on the trees and throughout the park.

The gardens have undergone their autumn transitions and the spring and summer colors have faded, but their remaining trees provide the perfect backdrop for holiday lights. These lights transform the gardens into a wintertime fantasy. During the event, the Wellfield Botanic Gardens’ Visitors Cottage offers free tours and information on the gardens, and its gift shop features botanicals and unique gifts.

Water source for Elkhart residents

The Wellfield Botanic Garden is located just a few blocks from downtown Elkhart, Indiana. The gardens are a part of the North Main Street Well Field, which has been a source of fresh water for the city for 150 years. Today, the garden serves as the city’s primary water supply. The project started as a Rotary Club service project and has since become its own nonprofit organization and governing board.

The project, which is part of National Public Works Week, was awarded a $10,000 grant by Rain Bird. The award was given to the team for a project aimed at promoting water conservation and wells. The project also included an educational booth for businesses within the area. Several hundred people participated in the event, and the wellfield is now a community landmark. It is a great place to learn about groundwater and its importance.
